WASHINGTON, DC – The Media Research Center (MRC) has recognized Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as one of its inaugural Free Speech Award recipients.
Sen. Cruz said of the award, “I am honored to be recognized by the Center for Media Research as a champion of free speech. Throughout my term in the United States Senate, I have continued to lead our country to become the greatest democracy in the world. As President Ronald Reagan wisely said, freedom only survives when the right to speak freely is protected. “Freedom is a fragile thing and does not disappear for more than a generation.” That’s true now more than ever.
“Our First Amendment right to free speech is under attack as radical leftists seek to silence those who disagree with them. I remain committed to fighting for our ‘first freedom.’
background
