MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minot State University (MSU) volleyball team defeated the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons in three sets 25-20, 25-13, 25-20 on Tuesday in NSIC action at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. Defeated.
With the loss, MSU’s record drops to 1-17 overall and 0-11 in NSIC play.
Paulina Kowalska led the Beavers’ attack with seven kills on the day. Minot State also led the way defensively with 11 goals from Victoria Sedova. MSU’s offense was helped by Jaina McCauley’s game-high 26 assists.
Set 1 | The Beavers lost the first set 25-20 on the early holes. Minnesota State Moorhead didn’t relinquish the lead just once in the set, allowing MSU to trail by as many as seven points before the Dragons took control.
Set 2 | MSU lost the second set 25-13, falling behind by two sets. The Beavers trailed by as many as 13 points, and Minnesota State Moorhead took full advantage in the set, 5-4, tying it twice before the Dragons took the lead.
Set 3 | MSU was unable to win the third set and was swept by Minnesota State Moorhead. The Beavers fell short by a score of 25-20. Minnesota State Moorhead grabbed a full advantage at 21-20 in a set tied 12 times before the Dragons took over late in the stanza.
The Beavers return home to face Bemidji State at the MSU Dome on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m., and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.
The cross country meet, hosted by Minot State University (MSU) for the first time in more than a decade, will be held on Saturday.
