(Updated until the match on Monday, September 23rd)

Major League Baseball’s 2024 season is entering its final week, and the race for the wild card spot is heating up in both leagues.

While the Baltimore Orioles are expected to claim the top wild-card seed in the American League, the Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners were all within two games of each other for the second and third seeds before Saturday. In the National League, the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets and Atlanta Braves were just three games apart for the final two spots.

“It’s a lot of fun,” said Tigers All-Star outfielder Riley Green, who is playing in his first pennant race. “I think this is the most fun I’ve ever had playing baseball in my life.”
