The NASA Science Activation Program’s NASA eClips project, led by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NIA), is designed to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) literacy by providing effective web-based content. The aim is to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists. , standards-compliant in-school and out-of-school learning and education resources through a NASA perspective.

As part of this effort, NASA eClips is professionally producing the “Ask an SME: Up Close with a NASA Subject Matter Expert” video series to provide a glimpse into the personal interests and career journeys of NASA SMEs. . Each video helps spark your students’ interest and expand their thinking about who (everyone!) is in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce and the types of work they do. .

On September 19, 2024, NASA eClips published the latest video in its Ask SME series featuring Corey Twine from NASA Johnson Space Center. Twine is an astronaut strength and conditioning specialist who helps astronauts stay physically fit for their work on Earth and while in space. He shares insight into how he supports astronauts and what inspired him to pursue this career.
