Oregon State wide receiver Traeshon Holden was ejected for spitting on Ohio State’s Davison Igbinosun during the second quarter of the game between the No. 3 Ducks and No. 2 Ohio State.
After the two men engaged near the goal line, Holden apparently spat at Igbinosan in front of the referee. Igbinosan wiped drool off the visor of his face mask, a clear flag and an automatic sending off as per the rules.
After the penalty, Holden becomes distraught as he walks down the tunnel to the locker room. NBC cameras caught him throwing his helmet and taking a knee in frustration at his penalty.
Holden entered the game as one of Oregon’s top receivers. He was second on the team with 19 catches for 274 yards in the Ducks’ first five games of the season, and had a catch of 32 yards before being ejected Saturday.
The former University of Alabama receiver is in his second year with the Ducks and had 37 catches for 452 yards and six scores before the season. Holden’s penalty already resulted in a clear Oregon State interception that was called an Ohio State catch, a laughably missed extra point by Oregon State, and a Ducks kickoff that bounced off an Ohio State blocker and was recovered by the Ducks. It took place in the midst of a wild first half that included. Oregon.
