Week 8 ended with no byes and 14 Sunday games.
Here’s an overview of each game player for the fourth and final Sunday in October. It is also known as National Tight End Day.
Eagles 37, Bengals 17
The Eagles continue to find their offensive identity, extending their winning streak to three games. Even if identities are created from week to week based on what is working.
Everything is going well these days.
With Sunday’s 37-point outburst, quarterback Jalen Hurts became the first player in league history to have multiple rushing touchdowns and a passer rating of 100 or higher in consecutive games.
The two came with a tush push. I spoke to him on the phone after the win and he told me his patented play was back. “That never worked,” Hertz insisted.
Quarterback Joe Burrow finished his 60th game with the Bengals with 112 touchdown passes. He has the fourth-most first 60 games by a player, behind Dan Marino (145), Patrick Mahomes (144) and Justin Herbert (114).
The more troubling number is 4. The Bengals are 0-4 at home this year.
Browns 29, Ravens 24
The Jameis Winston era has begun in a big way. He threw for 334 yards. Deshaun Watson never ran for 300 yards in a day during his time in Cleveland.
Winston’s genuine enthusiasm lifted the entire team. Even if 2-6 isn’t enough to make the playoffs (which it probably will be), the Browns’ games will be unlike anything they’ve seen this season: fun.
For the Ravens, the fun ended briefly with a five-game winning streak. Still, Derrick Henry became the first player in league history to score a touchdown in each of his first eight games with the team.
Lions 52, Titans 14
Yes, it was the Titans. However, the results are impressive regardless of the opponent and are a sign of strength. And they seem to be getting better and better.
Receiver Kalife Raymond, who had 190 return yards and two total scores, told PFT on the phone after the game that the improvement was due to receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown’s tenacity to practice at a high level. he said.
They are playing at a higher level than they have been in years. Detroit is 6-1 for the first time since 1956.
Quarterback Jared Goff threw just 15 passes, completing 12 for 85 yards and three touchdowns.
Texans 23, Colts 20
Houston completely defeated the Colts and took control of the AFC South.
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson completed 10 of 32 passes for 175 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Running back Jonathan Taylor ran for 105 yards and a touchdown in his return from an ankle injury.
Texans receiver Stefon Diggs is out with a non-contact knee injury. Coach DeMeco Ryans did not provide an update after the game. But it didn’t look good.
Packers 30, Jaguars 27
Packers kicker Brandon McManus made a walk-off field goal, clinching the win for the second straight week. The shot came off a drive by quarterback Malik Willis, who replaced Jordan Love in the second half.
Love has a groin injury. An MRI scan is scheduled for Monday. This is a once-in-a-week injury and he is expected to recover by the end of next week.
The Jaguars lost receiver Christian Kirk for the season due to a broken collarbone. He had been in trade talks before his injury.
Cardinals 28, Dolphins 27
Tua Tagovailoa’s return wasn’t supposed to go like this. Because Kyler Murray didn’t get the memo. He primarily pitched to lead the Cardinals back from a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter. A key run on third down extended the drive to victory.
At 4-4, the Cardinals are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West.
The Dolphins finished with 2 wins and 5 losses. They’re going to Buffalo next weekend.
Patriots 25, Jets 22
I wanted Woody. Woody understood. The team’s 2-3 team’s coach was fired six days before Monday night’s home game, extending its two-game losing streak to five. And while they’re not over yet, a visit from the Texans is coming on Halloween night.
Trick or treat. Please smell my feet. Feed Rex a snack.
The Patriots lost quarterback Drake Maye to a concussion. Despite being described as “soft” by coach Jerod Mayo, they still responded favorably. A playoff berth is still a long way off, but putting another nail in the Jets’ coffin would have to be the next best thing.
Falcons 31, Buccaneers 26
Kirk Cousins had four touchdown passes and a passer rating of 145.9. He has eight touchdown passes in two games against Tampa Bay this season.
Without their two top receivers, the Bucs tried to rally the offense without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. They did, but ultimately it wasn’t enough. And now they’re 4-4, with a two-game lead over Atlanta for the NFC South title.
Chargers 26, Saints 8
LA defeated the Saints, who are still without starting QB Derek Carr, and improved to 4 wins and 3 losses. New Orleans made two field goals on offense for the second straight game against an AFC West team that never felt close.
Rookie Rudd McConkie had eight catches, 111 yards and two touchdowns for the Chargers and reached the end zone three times after making five field goals Monday night.
Meanwhile, Saints defensive lineman Nathan Shepard will have to serve a suspension for his WWE/Bountygate-style attempt to injure Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. If the NFL was serious about player health and safety, he would do it.
Bills 31, Seahawks 10
Buffalo maintained its dominance in the AFC East. At 6-2, with the Dolphins at 2-5 and the Patriots and Jets at 2-6, the Bills will need a blowout loss to take the division title.
Amari Cooper had just one catch for three yards in the second game against the Bills, while Khalil Shakir gained 107 yards and rookie Keon Coleman added 70 yards and a touchdown. James Cook ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Seattle running back Kenneth Walker III was held to 12 yards on nine carries, making the passing game feel the absence of running back Metcalf, who has a knee injury.
Broncos 28, Panthers 14
Denver continues to enjoy a buffet of the NFC South’s worst teams as it cruises toward its first playoff berth since winning Super Bowl 50. Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn took exception to what appeared to be Broncos coach Sean Payton’s score. Payton rubbed some salt in the wound after the game by making the obvious statement that Carolina’s offense was simply not good.
Bo Nix set a franchise record for rookie quarterbacks with five wins, surpassing John Elway and Drew Lock’s four wins each.
Chiefs 27, Raiders 20
Kansas City has won 13 straight games since defeating the Bengals on New Year’s Eve. And the Chiefs are 6-0 at Allegiant Stadium, with five wins over the Raiders and one win in Super Bowl III.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes ranks third on the list for quarterback wins over the first eight years of his career with 81. He needs five games to catch up with Tom Brady and Russell Wilson, who are tied with 86 games. Mahomes has 10 games left to get there.
Commanders 18, Bears 15
Jayden Daniels shook off a rib injury and the Bears’ late go-ahead signal to hit a Hail Mary and buy nearly 13 seconds before hitting the winning shot, which was tipped by Bears defensive back Tyrik Stevenson. I caught it. Commanders receiver Noah Brown.
Stephenson was seen mocking Commanders fans before and during the play.
The loss sent the 4-3 Bears into the basement of the NFC North. And the pressure will be on Bears coach Matt Eberflus, who failed to prepare his team for the fateful Hail Mary.
49ers 30, Cowboys 24
Dallas jumped out to an early 10-point lead, the 49ers dominated them, and then the Cowboys tried to make things interesting.
Rookie running back Isaac Guerendo gained 85 rushing yards and scored his first career touchdown in place of injured shoulder Jordan Mason.
George Kittle finished the day with six catches for 128 yards and one touchdown for the Nationals.
For Dallas, CeeDee Lamb had 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns. However, Dallas’ running game still lacked punch, gaining 56 yards. San Francisco cast 223 votes.
Next up for the Cowboys is a trip to Atlanta and a reunion between Mike Zimmer and Kirk Cousins. we like it.
