Rams cleverly tease 49ers about Week 3 collapse with win probability chart. This originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area.
The 49ers are under fire from all sides after blowing a 10-point fourth-quarter lead to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
San Francisco was on a roll in Week 3 against Los Angeles after losing 27-24 after leading 24-14 early in the fourth quarter, according to ESPN’s win probability chart. But to add salt to the 49ers’ wounds, it was the Rams who had the last laugh after some late drama.
The Rams’ social media managers handled it well.
The Rams were never in the game until the end, but that shouldn’t have mattered as the 49ers missed multiple chances and the analytics were pretty confident the visitors would come out victorious.
In the Rams’ come-from-behind win over the 49ers, their chances of winning were down to 3.2% with 4:14 left in the fourth quarter.

The shocking loss was nothing short of a collapse for the 49ers. Despite a slew of injuries, San Francisco blew out a double-digit lead, quarterback Brock Purdy made history with another masterful performance, and wide receiver Jauan Jennings enjoyed a three-touchdown game.
And the injury brought home to the Rams what analysts were saying before the game about teams with serious injuries.
The 49ers should have been 2-1 at this point, but a series of mistakes has caused the Rams to climb out of the grave: San Francisco’s wide receivers accounted for 75 percent of Purdy’s incompletions with six dropped balls, and the special teams unit let the team down in key moments.
The Rams are no doubt enjoying this moment, showing it off in the 49ers’ face.
