1st quarter, 0:41: Rutgers football extends lead against Virginia Tech
It was a great first quarter for the Scarlet Knights.
Sam Brown ran in from 3-yards to put Rutgers up 14-0. After consecutive great plays by defensive ends Jordan Thompson and Aaron Lewis forced a Virginia Tech turnover on downs, Rutgers began its offensive drive from its own 39-yard line.
7:41, 1st quarter: Rutgers football takes early lead over Virginia Tech
Rutgers took a 7-0 lead over the Scarlet Knights on a Kyle Monangai run in from one yard out on third-and-goal.
The Scarlet Knights faked a QB keeper and handed the ball to Monangai, who ran it around the left side to the end zone.
It was a great start for Rutgers. After Nasir Montgomery forced a fumble on a Hokies punt return that was recovered by the Scarlet Knights, Rutgers began their drive at the Virginia Tech 31-yard line.
