When the college basketball season begins next week, Union University will seek to become the first men’s team to win three consecutive national championships since UCLA won seven in a row from 1967 to 1973.

At BetMGM Sportsbook, UConn opens the 2024-25 season at +850 and will win the National Championship. This ties the University of Kansas for the shortest odds.

On the women’s side, South Carolina is looking to win back-to-back titles. Something like this hasn’t happened since UConn won four straight years from 2013 to 2016.

The shortest odds for South Carolina to win again are +150.

Men’s National Championship Betting

UW and Kansas have improved odds since opening last spring. The Huskies opened at +1200 and the Jayhawks at +1100.

These two teams have the lowest odds, but they are not the most popular teams among bettors.

Duke (+900) collects the most money (14.5%) for the most tickets (13.3%). UConn is next, collecting the second-highest amount (13.8%) for the second-most tickets (10.4%). Kansas rounded out the top three with 8.5% of the prize money on 9.9% of the tickets.

As for other teams with lower odds, Alabama is +1200, North Carolina, Iowa State, and Baylor are all +2000.

Women’s National Championship Betting

South Carolina has the shortest odds, but bettors don’t seem to expect South Carolina to win again. The defending champion has won the fourth-most prize money (14.2%) on the fourth-most tickets (10.5%).

University College (+375), University of Southern California (+375), and University of Notre Dame (+900) are growing in popularity.

The Huskies have withdrawn the second most money (21.7%) for the most tickets (23.8%), and the Trojans have withdrawn the most money (25.3) for the second most tickets (12.4%). %) is being withdrawn. The Fighting Irish have the third-most stakes (12.4%) and the third-most money (17.3%).

Texas (+600) has better odds than Notre Dame, but only receives 4.8% of bets and 1.7% of funds.

There are three players who are candidates to win the Wood Award, which is given to the best player in the country.

North Carolina’s RJ Davis and Alabama’s Mark Sears are +700, and Kansas State’s Hunter Dickinson is +750. There are no other players below +1100.

Sears returns a huge 29.3% of funds on the second-highest bet (13.2%). Dickinson draws the most bets (14%), but only 5% of the money. Davis has won 5.3% of bets and 12.1% of funds.

Duke University’s Cooper Flagg will join the team when he turns 18 on Dec. 21.
