The Dodgers’ pitching staff, which was considered the team’s biggest weakness entering the postseason, has exploded as its biggest strength. Jack Flaherty and two relief pitchers pitched their third consecutive shutout on Sunday, tying the Major League postseason record with 33 consecutive scoreless innings while defeating the Mets. 9-0 in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium.

From Thuc Nguyen: Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh limped to the locker room, surrounded by team medical personnel, with his team still on the field against the Denver Broncos.
He returned to the sideline midway through the first quarter, unnoticed by the players, whose coaches did not know he had an arrhythmia. After quarterback Justin Herbert made a perfect third-down throw to Joshua Palmer to extend the Chargers’ drive, Harbaugh pointed down the field and pumped his fist.
It was as if nothing had happened.
As coaches and teammates cycled in and out of the locker room, Herbert was a steadying force in the Chargers’ 23-16 victory over the Broncos on Sunday.
The quarterback, who had the slowest passing start of his career, completed 21 of 34 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown as the Chargers (3-2) held Denver to 16 points in the fourth quarter to win. This sparked an attack. Mile High City since 2018.

From Broderick Turner: At approximately 9:15 a.m. on April 1, Michael Cooper’s phone rang with the news that he had finally been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
He sat next to his wife, Yvonne, and they both listened. But when Cooper heard the words spoken about one of basketball’s highest honors, he had doubts.
Former Lakers teammate Magic Johnson had lobbied for years to have Cooper inducted into the Hall of Fame, but it never happened. When Cooper first heard the news, he wondered why he should believe it was true this time.
“First of all, I got a call on April 1st, April Fool’s Day, and at first I thought it was a joke,” Cooper said with a laugh. “I was sitting next to my wife and I was on speakerphone, and I thought, ‘Right.’Okay, this is a cruel April Fool’s joke,” they said. No, Coop, you went in.” As I stared, my wife said, “Babe, you said you were in.” So, yeah, I wasn’t really expecting it because I couldn’t get in the last time I called. But they said I got it in. I was overjoyed. I stood up and started screaming, ‘I’m a Hall of Famer! ”

Mateusz Bogusz scored 35 seconds into the game and Jiri Sanchez scored in stoppage time to give LAFC a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday night.
LAFC is within three points of the Galaxy for the top seed in the Western Conference, and could finish no higher than second place. LAFC defeated the Whitecaps 3-0 at home in May and now leads the series with 10 wins, 6 losses, and 4 losses.
Bogusch scored his career-high 15th goal of the season for LAFC (18-8-7) with assists from David Martinez and Olivier Giroud. Martinez had his fourth assist in his 16th career appearance, and Giroux had his third assist in his ninth career appearance.

Brett Howden, Tomas Hertl and Pavel Dorofeev each scored a goal and the Las Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Ducks 3-1 on Sunday night.
Ilya Samsonov made 22 saves for Las Vegas.
Troy Terry scored the Ducks’ only goal and James Reimer made 29 saves.

2020 — The NFL cancels the Pro Bowl scheduled for January 31, 2021 due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
