Aaron Graves

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa junior defensive lineman Aaron Graves has been named the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Hawkeyes’ 40-16 win over Washington on Saturday. Graves shares the honor with Minnesota’s Koy Perich.

The weekly conference honor is Graves’ first and the Hawkeye’s second this season, as Caleb Johnson was named secondary offensive player of the week after a road win at Minnesota.

Against Washington, Graves totaled five tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. The two forced fumbles were a career best for Graves, a native of Dayton, Iowa.

Iowa State O-line listed on Joe Moore’s honor roll

IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa offensive line has been named to the Joe Moore Award midseason honor roll. This award recognizes an attacking team that has demonstrated a high level of toughness, effort, teamwork, consistency, technique and finishing ability.

The award is named after Joe Moore, who is widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history. This is the only major college football award that recognizes a unit.

Iowa’s offensive line includes center Logan Jones, tackles Mason Richman and Jennings Danker, and guards Connor Colby and Bo Stevens. The Hawkeye offense has gained over 200 rushing yards in four of the team’s five games.

STATE CENTER — Class 2A No. 2 PCM built a canyon with the rest of District 6 teams Friday, 49-7.

DES MOINES — Luke Bailey found Taj Hughes for a 38-yard touchdown pass to give Drake the lead in the third.
