Staff picks for the UNC football program’s contest with Georgia Tech.

The UNC football program will look to end a three-game drought when it hosts Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Over the past few seasons, the Yellow Jackets have had the Tar Heels number, winning each of their last three meetings. This is a game the UNC football program desperately needs, but the question is can they get it done.

Here’s what the staff is thinking about for Saturday’s activities.

The UNC football program has lost each of its last three meetings with the Yellow Jackets (all of which the Tar Heels could have won).

What makes us think this team can end its slide as an underdog?

Let’s get this over with so we can get a glimpse of this year’s UNC basketball team as soon as possible. Fans should leave Kenan Stadium early and head to the Dean Smith Center in plenty of time.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 38, North Carolina 21
Record: 4-2

Last weekend’s double-digit loss against Pitt extended the Tar Heels’ losing streak to three, and I expect their bad luck to continue Saturday. Omarion Hampton, one of the lone bright spots in this North Carolina State offense, is looking to go over 100 rushing yards for the fifth straight game, but he will be facing Georgia Tech, one of the best run defenses in the ACC. I will do it. Yards per game this season. I don’t think the Tar Heels defense will be able to make up for the lack of scoring on offense, and the Heels will be on the back foot again.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 33, North Carolina State 24
Record: 4-2

UNC’s response to Duke’s loss to Pitt doesn’t give me any optimism that the Tar Heels are going to turn things around. I hope I’m wrong, but for now, stop thinking with your heart and start thinking with your head. Georgia Tech has strengths in all the places North Carolina has weaknesses. This can get ugly.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 35, North Carolina 17
Record: 3-3

It’s been a tough season for North Carolina football. I think Tar Heel Nation has mentally shifted into basketball mode.

The Tar Heels are currently on a three-game losing streak and host Georgia Tech. Playing against a 4-2 ACC powerhouse like Georgia Tech isn’t the easiest way to rectify the situation.

And unfortunately, I think it continues to be difficult for the Tar Heels because the losses have become contagious. Georgia Tech won a close game, extending the Tar Heels’ losing streak to four games. I hope the Tar Heels can find their spark and finish the season on a strong note.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 28, North Carolina 24
Record: 4-2

This week, the Tar Heels have a big ACC matchup against Georgia Tech. The Tar Heels are looking to end their losing streak at three and win their first ACC conference game. Georgia Tech is coming off a 24-14 ACC win against Duke, but I think the Tar Heels’ defense will continue to struggle. However, I believe North Carolina’s offense could explode in this game and could put up big numbers from Criswell and Hampton. Hampton has now rushed for at least 100 yards in five of six games and will continue that trend Saturday afternoon. I expected this game to be high scoring, but unfortunately the Tar Heels lost another game, falling to 3-4 on the season.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 37, North Carolina 31
Record: 5-1
