Telefónica Tech has joined a cybersecurity information sharing initiative led by Cisco, which promises to strengthen Spanish companies’ capabilities in this field by providing details on the latest threats and attack methods.
The Awareness, Education, Advice and Information Sharing (AEGIS) program provides a platform for companies to share data on cyber threats and vulnerabilities. The program is overseen by Cisco’s Talos Intelligence Group and brings together Telefónica Tech’s and U.S. vendors’ broader security posture, including email, network, cloud and more.
In a related document, Cisco said its Talos division has “better name recognition than any other security vendor” due to the scale of its business in the space.
For Telefónica Tech, membership in AEGIS means receiving “strategic information on participating members’ networks and threat intelligence,” the company said. This includes up-to-date information on attackers’ “tactics, techniques and procedures” and any changes to them.
Telefónica Tech added that incorporating AEGIS information into its current cybersecurity services, managed through a proprietary intelligence platform operated from its Digital and Security Operations Center, will strengthen the protection it offers.
The company said its digital sites offer round-the-clock customer service and that it has 11 security centers around the world to “monitor and operate cybersecurity services.”
The company explained that of its 6,400 staff, 2,500 of whom work in cybersecurity, it deals with 350,000 security event tickets and around 500,000 alerts each year, “of which 13,000 are critical.”
