Rocket League
Tech’s Rocket League and Smash teams showed no signs of slowing down, maintaining their early season dominance with another thrilling week of sweeps. Both teams displayed skill and passion, not losing a single time to their opponents and solidifying their status as teams to watch.
On the Rocket League side, the performance stood out to be that of Lucas “Grape” Foster, who got off to an explosive start and displayed his best gameplay of the season. Grape’s aggressive style and precision play were on full display, forcing opponents to desperately play catch-up.
Meanwhile, team captain Isaac “Stewy” Stillwel continued to prove why he’s the heart and soul of this Rocket League team, as his leadership shone through once again and stood out with a series of exhilarating defensive plays that helped Tech maintain momentum and keep their opponents at bay.
smash
Tech’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) team continued its winning season this week with another outstanding performance that dominated the competition. Leading the way was Luke Krukmarik, known to the Smash community as “Flodge,” who put on a spectacular performance using his signature “Diddy Kong” play. Flodge dominated his opponents with relentless aggression and flawless execution, once again proving why he is one of the most feared players in the league.
“Frogge has been in really good form,” said coach Travis Isbell. “His performance last week was worth watching! The whole SSBU team looks strong and I’m excited to see what the rest of the season has to offer.”
As the season progresses, Tech University’s SSBU team is looking more and more unstoppable, and with an emphasis on the holistic student-athlete experience, they’re poised to continue making waves across the Playfly.
Valorant
The Tech Esports Valorant team took an unexpected turn in their season this week when their scheduled opponent did not show up for the match. Although the team came into the match fully prepared, they were given a bye and will now shift their focus to next week’s match.
While the outcome wasn’t what they had envisioned, the unexpected buy gave Tech’s Valorant team additional time to fine-tune their strategy and prepare for the next challenge. The team continues to work hard, and this additional preparation will prove invaluable as the season progresses.
With their sights set on their next opponent, the University of the Cumberlands, the Valorant team is eager to prove themselves when they finally return to the servers. Expect a hungry and motivated Tech team when they take to the stage next week.
Overwatch
Tech’s Overwatch team sent a strong message this week by dominating their opponents 3-0 in a Tech-filled series from start to finish. From the first map to the last, Tech players completely dominated the match, not allowing their opponents to score a single point.
Last week’s match was a masterclass in coordination, communication, and execution, as Tech’s Overwatch team dominated at every turn. The team’s synergy was on full display, with each player making key plays and seamless teamwork.
Isaac “Isaac” McKinney had an outstanding performance, putting on his best May wall of the season. McKinney’s perfect timing and strategic wall placement played a key role in Tech’s dominant sweep, thwarting key attacks and costing his team crucial chances.
call of duty
This week, the Tech Esports Call of Duty team suffered another loss to Newberry College, a well-prepared, well-organized opponent that put in an incredible performance that Tech just couldn’t match.
Tech University’s Call of Duty team is in the midst of a season of growth with new members as they navigate the challenges and growing pains that come with building a competitive team from the ground up. The team faced many setbacks early in the semester, including technical issues and tough losses, but the group continues to work on improving and finding their rhythm.
This season has been a learning experience, highlighting both the issues and challenges a new team can face. Despite a shaky start, there is a strong sense of optimism within the team as the players continue to develop their teamwork and refine their gameplay.
As the semester progresses, Tech’s Call of Duty team remains focused on moving forward with determination and tenacity. With each match, they are gaining valuable experience that will serve them well in the future. While the growing pains may be tough now, they are laying the foundation to become a stronger, more cohesive team in seasons to come.
