PARKERSBURG — After an impressive win last Friday, Elkins and Philip Barber moved up in the WVSSAC playoff rankings released Tuesday.
The Tigers (3-1) beat Buckhannon Upshur, 35-0, to move up three spots to No. 9 in Class AAA.
Following a 42-6 victory over then-12th-ranked Liberty, the Colts (3-1) moved from sixth to fourth in the Double-A rankings.
The two teams will battle it out on Friday night at Tiger Stadium for Homecoming.
Tucker County (4-0) moved into No. 7 in Class A after a 50-0 win in a home game against Gilmer County.
The Mountain Lions have won 14 straight games in the regular season and visit No. 16 Webster County on Friday night.
Spring Mills (4-0), Martinsburg (4-0), Wheeling Park (3-1), Parkersburg South (3-1) and George Washington (4-0) round out the top five in Quad A.
Bridgeport (4-0) remains atop the Class AAA rankings, with fellow Big Ten Conference member Fairmont Senior (4-0) in second place, Herbert Hoover (3-0) in third, Princeton (4-0) in fourth and Ripley (4-0) in fifth.
Roane County (4-0), Frankfort (3-0), Wayne (3-0), Philip Barber and Westside (4-0) make up the top five in Class AA.
Tug Valley (3-0) leads the Single-A division.
Riverview (3-0) placed second, Petersburg (3-1) third, Wahama (4-0) fourth and Madonna (4-0) fifth.
Pendleton County (3-1) is ninth.
