NBC News asked four Arizonans why they would vote for Trump or Harris.

Ian Galvez Daly, 28, said the election made him feel hopeful for the first time since he was able to take part in the democratic process.

“There seems to be a movement to actually advocate for people, not just for the rich,” the Phoenix native said, adding that he was backing Harris.

Sage Allen, who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020, is leaning toward voting for Trump this election.

“I thought there was a problem with the way Democrats handled Joe Biden and his hospital room situation,” Allen said, referring to Biden’s apparent cognitive decline.

Allen said Trump had “toned his rhetoric considerably,” adding that the assassination attempt on him had changed people’s views of him.

“I guess the shooting has also humanized him in my eyes. Before, it was very hard for me to sympathize with him, but the shooting has humanized him in my eyes,” she said.

Juan Zoppetti, 48, of Gilbert, Arizona, said he supports Trump because he believes the world is safer and the economy is doing better during his presidency.

“The Middle East was on a path to peace, not the chaos that it is today,” he said. “And then you also have a party that is weaponizing everything that can be weaponized — the government agencies, the IRS, the judiciary — anything that can be weaponized and used against their enemies.”

Zachary O’Hare, 42, of Phoenix, said he “doesn’t know if I can handle four more years” of the Trump administration.

“I think this has a lot of negative effects on the world as a whole, not just on what’s going on in our country, but on international relations and how people view it,” he said.
