U.S. men’s national team midfielder Tyler Adams made his first English Premier League appearance since the Copa America on Saturday, helping Bournemouth to a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
Adams, who captained the U.S. team at the 2022 World Cup, made his season debut as a substitute in the 81st minute against Villa Park. He had been out since late July after undergoing back surgery.
Bournemouth took a 1-0 lead when Adams was brought on for Ryan Christie, but Evanilsson equalized in the 6th minute of stoppage time to force a draw.
Adams endured an injury-plagued season last year, playing just four games for Bournemouth due to hamstring problems. return. He was selected in Bournemouth’s squad for last week’s win over Arsenal, but did not feature.
