volleyball
– Cleveland State University will open its Horizon League season this weekend, hosting Northern Kentucky University in a two-game series on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th.
-Last time around, the Vikings closed out non-league play with consecutive wins over Kent State and Akron, extending their current winning streak to five games.
-Heading into league play, Alana Appleby (1.27 blocks/set) and Emma Walker (5.03 digs/set) lead all #HLVB players in their respective statistical categories, with Liberty Torres (4.08 kills/set) and Ella Mihacevic (9.50 assists/set) ranking second.
Men’s Soccer
– Cleveland State continues its 2024 campaign this week with a trip to Green Bay on Saturday, September 28th.
-Last time out, the Vikings earned their first league points of the season with a 2-2 draw against Detroit Mercy.
– Oscar von Essebeck, who only came on in the second half, scored the opening goal and assisted on the equaliser.
Women’s Soccer
-The Vikings will split their time between home and away games this week, hosting Northern Kentucky on Thursday, September 26th before traveling to Wright State on Sunday, September 29th.
– Cleveland State opened its Horizon League season last week with visits to Purdue Fort Wayne and Indiana University Indiana.
cross country
-Cleveland State will take this week off from competition and will return to the track on Friday, Oct. 4 to compete in the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame.
– Last time out, Natalie Keller paced the Vikings at the All-Ohio Classic, taking 10th place overall with a 6K time of 23:01 and being the top finisher in the DI division.
Swimming and diving
-The Vikings open the 2024-25 season on Saturday, Sept. 28, at home against Valparaiso.
-This tournament will be the first for new head coach Trent Richardson.
-The boys were voted 3rd and the girls 4th in the #HLSD preseason poll.
Men’s Tennis
-The Vikings will host the first of two home tournaments of the fall season this weekend, welcoming teams to Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion from Friday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 29 for the inaugural Horizon League Individual Championship.
-The singles and doubles winners from this weekend’s tournament will earn berths at the ITA Conference Masters Championships to be held this fall in San Diego, California.
– Cleveland State University kicked off its fall campaign this past weekend with the WMU Invitational and ITA National Championships, with Lincoln Battle advancing to the second round of qualifying for the ITA National Championships and Cole Chappell and Nico Jamison being named to the WMU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Women’s Tennis
– Cleveland State University will take a week off from competition before returning to competition at the Horizon League Individual Championships, which will run from Friday, Oct. 4th through Sunday, Oct. 6th.
-Last time around, the Vikings kicked off their fall campaign at the Princess Hotels College Cup, with Therese Vevere, Jenna Redmile, Ella Franz and Philippa Frogner all going 2-0 in singles matches.
Women’s Golf
– Cleveland State will also compete in the Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Monday, playing the final 18 holes of the 36-hole tournament.
-After the first day, the Vikings sit in sixth place in the team standings, with Kaitlyn Colmes leading the individual competition at three under par.

At the All-Ohio Classic, she ran a personal best time of 23:01 for 6K, placing 10th overall and also taking the top spot in the DI division for the race.
Therese Vevere, women’s tennis
They kicked off their fall campaign with a 2-0 singles record and 2-0 doubles record at the Princess Hotels College Cup.
Oskar von Esebek, Men’s Football
He scored a goal and assisted on the tying goal for the Vikings in a 2-2 tie with Detroit Mercy.
Emma Walker, volleyball
He averaged 5.86 digs per set this week to help the Vikings to consecutive wins over Kent State and Akron, and he also moved into fifth place in the CSU career record books with 1,324 digs.
