The Boston College Eagles (4-2, 1-1 ACC) football team looks to get back in the win column with a road matchup against the Virginia Tech Hokies (3-3, 1-1 ACC).
Heading into this matchup, both teams have just completed their first bye weeks of the year, which marks the midway point of the season.
So far this year, the Eagles are off to a strong start to the season with wins over the then No. 1 team. In addition to losses to No. 10 Florida, Duquesne, Michigan, and Western Kentucky, they also lost to No. 19 Missouri (then No. 6) and recently lost to Virginia.
Meanwhile, the Hokies, who were expected to be a threat in the ACC heading into the season, lost the opening game to Vanderbilt, lost to Rutgers in Week 4, and lost to No. 6 Miami in Week 5. Recorded wins over Marshall, Old Dominion, and Stanford.
These two programs appear to be out of the College Football Playoff race, but both have a small chance of advancing to the ACC Championship in December. However, if either team loses in the conference, they will likely be eliminated from the competition.
The contest will be an “Orange Effect” game for the Hokies, featuring an orange alternate uniform. The Eagles will be wearing white jerseys.
