Weekend Preview – October 17, 2024

RICHMOND, Va. (October 17, 2024) – This weekend, postseason standings will be considered in many sports, while others will conclude their fall regular seasons.

women’s soccer
The top five teams in the CAA Standings are two points apart entering the penultimate weekend of the regular season, while the following seven teams sit at either six or nine points with three games remaining. There is.

Thursday’s four-game series will feature five teams competing for a final bye, highlighted by a key matchup at North Carolina State. Elon (10-2-1, 5-2) enters the weekend with a one-point lead and will be one of the teams close behind as Hofstra (6-2-6, 4-1-2) visits. We will be welcoming one to our home. Rudd Field (7 p.m., FloFC). Monmouth (8-1-5, 4-0-2) is the only CAA team with four games remaining, hosting UNCW (4-6-5, 2-2- 3) Host. . No. 21 Hofstra has a bye week with five conference games scheduled for this weekend. The day begins at 1 p.m. with Northeastern and Drexel hosting Delaware State and William & Mary, respectively. Stony Brook heads south to take on UNCW (2 p.m.). Two of the three teams are tied for first as Elon travels to Monmouth (7 p.m.) and Campbell heads to Charleston (7 p.m.). All games are streamed on FloFC.

field hockey
Six teams will play in CAA play on Friday, with William & Mary looking for its first conference win traveling to Hofstra (2 p.m.), Monmouth hosting Towson (3 p.m.) and No. 2 Delaware taking third place. Welcome. – Locations from Northeast to Newark (5 p.m.). Drexel will host its only non-conference game against Lafayette (6 p.m.). All games are streamed on FloLive.

In non-conference games Sunday, Drexel travels to No. 6 St. Joseph’s (12 p.m.), Northeastern University of Maine (12 p.m., NESN/FloLive), and Towson takes on Bellarmine (12 p.m.). Compete against. Hofstra makes a short trip to Connecticut to play against Fairfield (1 p.m.), while Delaware State heads to Columbia (1 p.m.).

volleyball
Four teams went 2-0 last weekend, and depending on the luck of the schedule, those teams will play in back-to-back games this weekend.

Charleston (15-5, 7-1), which defeated Towson twice last weekend, followed William & Mary (7-10, 3-5), which picked up two important wins over defending CAA champion Delaware State. defeat). Hofstra (11-6, 7-1) has won seven straight games and heads to Wilmington to take on UNCW (5-10, 2-6), which won its first two games in league play last weekend.

Elsewhere in the league, Elon (11-8, 5-3) faces Stony Brook (11-7, 4-4) with a potential to shake up both teams’ mid-postseason standings. In one series, Northeastern (7-9-5, -3) and Delaware State (9-6, 5-3) look to get back on track with a matchup in Newark and a home game against Hampton. The same goes for Towson (14-4, 5-3). The Huskies, Blue Hens and Tigers all had their 5-1 starts halted last weekend. NC A&T (9-7, 4-4) heads to Campbell (3-15, 1-7) to improve its position.

The Charleston-William & Mary series begins Friday and the other five series begin Saturday. There are 10 games available on FloVolleyball.

swimming and diving
Drexel and Monmouth open this week, the Hawks host Seton Hall on Friday and the Dragons take a short trip to La Salle on Saturday. Northeastern will also play at home against Rhode Island on Saturday.


golf
Many CAA teams will wrap up their fall schedules this weekend with tournaments up and down the East Coast.


In the men’s game, Campbell will play in the Furman event, Delaware and Hofstra will be on Long Island for the LIU tournament, Drexel will head to North Carolina for the ODU/OBX intercollegiate game, and Monmouth and William & Mary will play in the event. UNCW will be in attendance as they travel to the Lehigh Valley for the event. Wilmington Williams Cup.


On the women’s side, Campbell competes in the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Charleston competes in the White Sands Bahamas Invitational, Delaware State hosts a tournament in Rehoboth Beach, Elon travels to South Carolina in the Wofford event, and Hofstra We conclude the fall with the following results. In the one-day event hosted by Wagner, Monmouth will join the Saucon Valley men’s team for the Lehigh event, while N.C. A&T will remain local and compete in the UNCG tournament.


cross country
It’s been a busy weekend in cross country, with many teams making final preparations for the regular season in preparation for the CAA Cross Country Championships on November 1st.


Campbell, Charleston and North Carolina A&T will join host Elon at the Phoenix XC Invitational on Friday. Also on Friday, Monmouth will compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championship in the Bronx, New York, Stony Brook will participate in the Princeton Fall Classic and Delaware State will travel to Texas for the Arturo Barrios Invitational. Three schools will play on Saturday, with Northeastern at the Prenationals in Madison, Wis., William & Mary at the Panorama Farms Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., and Towson at the Audrey Schenk Invitational in Gettysburg, Pa.
