Fresh off an important Week 8 win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Los Angeles Rams are a breath of fresh air. Sean McVay’s club is heading into a mini-bye week with a 3-4 record on the season, and realistically has a chance to make the playoffs late in the season. Before this latest win, trade talks surrounded the franchise, including the possibility of sending star wideout Cooper Kupp out of town. McVay then hinted that there won’t be any wholesale changes thanks to this recent win (especially as it relates to Kupp), but that doesn’t mean the team is completely off the trade market.
According to ESPN, the Rams and Tre’Davious White are discussing options for the former All-Pro cornerback’s future with the team, including a possible trade. White signed a one-year contract with the Rams this offseason, but has been inactive for the past three games.
The paper notes that despite keeping him inactive for several weeks in a row, Los Angeles is willing to keep him around to fill his spot year-round. However, the need for corners across the league could force the organization to make a trade.
In the four games he played this season, White totaled 12 tackles and two pass breakups. White has been a drop-off from the former All-Pro during this stint in Los Angeles, as he has allowed four passing touchdowns as the primary defender and averaged a passer rating of 98.3 against opposing quarterbacks.
Before signing this spring, White spent the first part of his career with the Buffalo Bills, where he was selected 27th overall in the 2017 draft out of LSU. During his tenure in Buffalo, White was named an All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowler. In 2019, he led the league with six interceptions.
Injuries have also played a role in White’s decline in recent years, with him suffering a torn ACL in late November of the 2021 season and tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 4 of the 2023 season.
As the Rams consider a possible trade for White, let’s break down some potential landing spots.
baltimore ravens
The Ravens have a solid Super Bowl berth and have a well-designed offense to win in the postseason thanks to the two-headed rushing duo of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. But defense, especially against the pass, could be an Achilles heel. Entering Week 8, Baltimore is allowing a league-worst 287.1 passing yards per game and 7.5 passing yards per attempt (third-worst). White may not be the All-Pro player he was in his early days in Buffalo, but he could be a valuable contributor to help turn the tide in this secondary.
cincinnati bengals
The Bengals are also a team in the AFC North and in contention for a championship, but they need help at corner. The team lost corner Dax Hill to a torn ACL in Week 5, leaving him a bit behind Cam Taylor-Britt, DJ Turner II and Mike Hilton. Entering Week 8, Cincy is allowing 217 passing yards per game, which ranks 21st in the NFL.

The Rams saw on Thursday that Minnesota’s corners weren’t exactly responding. So far, the Vikings have given up 263 passing yards per game, the third-most in the league. At least White gives a depth option to a group that needs to find some answers if it wants to break out of its current two-game losing streak in which it has allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete 79.6 percent of its passes for 559 yards and six touchdowns.
