OKLAHOMA CITY — Metro Tech will host its sixth annual Women’s Empowerment Symposium on October 3, 2024 from 9 a.m. to noon at Metro Tech’s South Bryant Campus, 4901 S Bryant Ave, Oklahoma City, 7312. The free event, titled “Work-Life Balance,” will feature talks, workshops and resources to support women in the area.

The symposium will kick off with a panel discussion titled, “Walking the Tightrope: When Education Meets Life.” The panel will feature experts such as Kama Watts, Business and Entrepreneurial Services Coordinator at Gordon Cooper Technology Center; Trista Shomo, Director of Safety at Vincit Constructors; Ashley Barker, Staff Attorney at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma; and Andrea Jaraff, a top real estate agent in Oklahoma. Together, they will discuss the challenges women face when balancing their careers, personal growth and family life.

Following the panel discussion, attendees can attend an information session on breast cancer awareness presented by Michele Lang, APRN-CNP, who will provide hands-on demonstrations to promote early detection and proactive health management.

The agenda also includes a financial empowerment session with certified financial educator Sarah Lorenzen, who will focus on the important connection between financial literacy and work-life balance.

In between sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to explore local women-owned businesses and take part in valuable networking opportunities with other professionals.

“We are excited to host another amazing symposium showcasing free resources for women in our community,” said Elena Troya, Workforce Development Coordinator and Events Director. “This event leverages the power of intergenerational connections and fosters mentorship opportunities for women to encourage and guide each other.”
