In the month since Helen, health care workers have spent their time assisting local residents in need of medical care in the aftermath of the storm.

“Anticipatory grief happens when you have people here cleaning your hospital room or cooking your meals in the community,” says Abby Willick.
Advent Health staff said they are grateful for these mental health resources provided.
“We’re here to support our patients, take care of them, and help them solve their own problems. But we can’t pour water from an empty cup,” ICU/PCU Nurse Manager said Vicki Rogers. “We have to be able to process the grief and problems caused by this disaster ourselves, so we want to provide that support to our staff and help them.”
