NEW YORK, NY – In June, the Sports Business Journal announced its 40 Under 40 for 2024. One of the honorees is Andrew Nacario, a 2007 graduate of Dartmouth College with a bachelor’s degree in political science who played as an outfielder for the Big Green and head coach Bob Whalen.
Nacario began working at CAA as its first sports agent trainee immediately after graduation, and seven years later he became the agency’s first baseball agent, working in Nashville.
Now co-head of CAA’s baseball division in his 16-year career, Nacario has grown CAA’s baseball division to nine employees in the Nashville office and collectively negotiated more than $6 billion in MLB contracts.
Nacario’s most notable signing came in 2022, when he wrote the script for a video about free agent Trea Turner, narrated by Jon Hamm.
Nacario’s goal with the video was to get fans excited, but it also excited the front office and gave them a way to make Turner’s highlight reels more appealing, which helped Turner sign a $300 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and garnered over a million views online.
Last year, Nacario was involved in another landmark deal, helping left fielder Bryan Reynolds sign an eight-year, $106.75 million contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the largest contract in franchise history.
Nacario’s CAA clients have not only reaped the rewards, but also achieved great success on the field: 133 All-Star appearances, 5 MVP awards, 6 Cy Young Awards, 8 Rookie of the Year awards, 31 Silver Slugger Awards, 30 Gold Glove Awards, the list goes on.
They have also had remarkable success in the draft and development department, with 72 first-round picks and 67 Futures Game participants.
As a member of the Big Green, Nacario batted .257 with 61 hits, 28 runs scored, six doubles and 27 RBIs in 70 career games.
