Known anti-vaxxer Zachary Levi’s new conspiracy theory is further alienating his friends and fans in the Broadway community.
Last month, following the death of Gavin Creel at the age of 48, Levi took to Instagram Live to suggest in a bizarre pro-Trump rant that the Tony Award-winning actor died because of the coronavirus vaccine. This angered his fans and loved ones.
“I know this is going to upset some people and upset some people. I hope that doesn’t happen,” Levi prefaced. “So, a few weeks ago, my friend Gavin Creel passed away. He was 48 years old and one of the healthiest people I know.”
Creel died from a rare, aggressive form of sarcoma, which Levi called “turbo cancer” that “suddenly appeared out of nowhere,” before speculating: It was not forced on the American people, and the theater was not imposed or exploited.”
Levi paused before explaining that theater owners and producers were not to blame, but “the people at the top.”

The American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute have both condemned the theory that coronavirus vaccines cause cancer.

“The politicization of Gavin’s death is incredibly unfortunate,” wrote two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz. “We really tried to give you a benefit here. We’re halfway through and it’s been insanely hard. But I don’t think you feel the need to use his life and legacy to promote this damn platform.” Knowing that, and I’m sure he thought so too, was completely heartbreaking.”
Bobby Cronin commented, “Total POS.” “Please stop using Gavin’s death to get attention.”
“You were the worst role in ‘She Loves Me,'” wrote Erin Marsh, referring to the 2016 Broadway revival starring both Levi and Creel.

Broadway publicist Lisa Goldberg also slammed Levi on “X.” Are you saying Gavin (or anyone) got stage 4 cancer and died because of the vaccine? ” she wrote. “We will miss Gavin’s memory, his friends and family, science, medicine, past and present, all those battling illness, including cancer, all those who are grieving Gavin’s death, and all those who have lost him. Absolute disrespect for others who are grieving” People who died from COVID-19 before a vaccine was available??!
Goldberg added: “Are you making fun of me for all this trash?!” Spread your ignorance elsewhere – it’s disgusting. Horrible. “
Levi previously endorsed Donald Trump at a rally last month after Trump’s primary candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., dropped out of the presidential race.
