1. Lewisburg (8-1): If Lewisburg can win tonight, it will have its best regular season since the 2010 Class AA state semifinal season, when it finished 14-1. It was a remarkable turnaround for a team that had two wins and nine losses two years ago.
2. Muncy (8-1): Landin Womer and Austin Johnson both average over 15 yards per carry, which is pretty impressive. This is also a testament to Muncie’s offensive line and how effective they have been this season.
3. Jersey Shore (6-3): If Elijah Jordan can throw for 118 yards tonight, he will join his older brother Brady among the 2,000-yard passers Jersey Shore has produced since 2014. That includes Logan English, Tanner Larson and Branden Weary. No area team produced as many 2,000-yard passers as Jersey Shore in the 2000s.
4. Montoursville (5-4): Watching Christian Banks run back a week ago reminded me of playing with Christian Okoye in the Tecmo Super Bowl and watching tacklers bounce him off. Without a doubt, Banks empties the tank with every run.
5. Warrior Run (6-3): James Keefer is locked in a three-way battle for the area passer rating crown. Jordan, Canton’s Ben Fitch and Keefer all sit within 1.2 points of each other. Keefer also has a chance to give Warrior Run a second straight 20-touchdown QB after Ryan Newton scored 22 touchdowns last season.
6. Loyalsock (5-4): No team in District 4 may have been more tested than the Loyalsock over the past two games. The Lancers faced undefeated Danville and Shamokin teams, so they’ll probably be ready for anything if they reach the postseason.
7. Hughesville (5-4): Connor Knight last week became the first Hughesville player in the 2000s to reach 60 catches in a season. He also competes with North Penn Mansfield’s Luke Krager for the area reception title, leading 60-59 heading into tonight’s regular season finale.
8. Montgomery (6-3): Earned its first win since 2001 a week ago. A win Saturday at Cowanesque Valley would give the Red Raiders their first seven-win season since 2000. This all comes after back-to-back campaigns with one win and nine losses. They have made a spectacular comeback and will have a strong core back next season.
9. Williamsport (4-5): Williamsport showed last week how dangerous it can be against the No. 10 ranked 5A team in the state. If Williamsport’s team shows up in the next few weeks, it has a legitimate chance of winning the district.
10. Canton (5-4): Canton had a memorable final home game last week, controlling every aspect and excelling in all three phases. Give a lot of credit to the seniors for helping a young team get through some tough times this season when injuries depleted the roster.
11. Milton (3-6): Despite missing four games, quarterback Isaiah Minium still has a chance to reach a 1,000-yard season. He’s been particularly good over the past three weeks, throwing for 567 yards and eight touchdowns.
12. South Williamsport (4-5): Despite battling through injuries, quarterback Tad Rask provided strong senior leadership for South, gaining more than 1,000 total yards. Rask, who scored a team-high eight touchdowns, totaled 1,184 yards and 13 points.
13. Cowanesque Valley (4-5): One of the smallest schools in the area has done some really great work over the past four years. The program never won more than three games in a season in the 2000s until 2021. They have now won at least four games in three of their last four games, with all but three senior starters returning from a team that plummeted. stretch.
14. Wellsboro (2-7): Along those lines, Wellsboro showed significant growth throughout the season and most of its starters return next fall. That includes quarterback Griffin Morrall and running back Ryder Bowen, both of whom have a shot at reaching 1,000 yards in their respective categories tonight.
15. North Penn-Mansfield (2-7): Cooper Shaw went from being a wide receiver to one of the area’s top two-way quarterbacks this season. He totaled over 2,000 yards last Saturday, ranking third among area passing yard leaders.
16. Central Mountain (0-9): It’s easy to cram when things aren’t going well, so kudos to Central Mountain for continuing to work hard all season against a grueling schedule. I think next year will bring big profits.
17. Bucktail (0-7): The same goes for the Bucks. Standout quarterback Brody Pentz will play his final academic game tomorrow. He totaled 4,904 yards and 53 touchdowns during his stellar high school career.
