About the Lakers
Roosevelt is establishing itself in the NCAA, going 1-6 overall and 1-3 overall in its first year in GLIAC Division II. The Lakers earned their first conference win of the season on October 19 with a 16-10 overtime victory over Northern Michigan at the Superior Dome.
President Roosevelt made things interesting last weekend, taking Davenport’s talented team to halftime with a 14-10 advantage. The Panthers held the Lakers scoreless in the second half, but escaped Morris Field with a 19-14 decision. More interestingly, Roosevelt gained -21 yards on the ground and 177 through the air, giving him just 156 yards of total offense.
Senior quarterback Carson Budke threw for 1,547 yards with six touchdown passes and six interceptions. His top receiver is sophomore Keonta Niko, who is averaging over 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns per game. Alex Tran also caught three touchdown passes for Roosevelt and had 14 receptions and 169 total receiving yards. Senior running back Silas Zuell controlled the Lakers’ run game, averaging 67.4 rushing yards per outing and scoring a team-leading five touchdowns.
Jacob Bellizzi (48 total tackles) and Jalen Olokun (44 total tackles) lead the Lakers’ defense. Bellizzi has two sacks for 20 yards, while Olokun has 7.5 tackles for loss this season.

The Huskies enter their penultimate road week of the season with a 5-3 record and 2-2 in league play, following a 14-game winning streak in the Minors Cup that included a 39-9 victory over Northern Michigan at Curley Stadium on Hall of Fame weekend. He emerged defeated. loop.
Senior wide receiver Brandon Michalak recorded his second multi-touchdown game of the season, leading the team with two receiving touchdowns on three receptions and 103 total yards. Senior quarterback Alex Freese leads the league in touchdowns (17), passing yards (1,834) and passing yards per game (229.3). His dynamic wide receiver trio combined for 16 receiving touchdowns. Second-year running back Jake Rueff controlled the run game, gaining 398 rushing yards, averaging 49.8 yards per game and two touchdowns. Asher Gregory is averaging 11 rushing yards and two scores per game.
Junior defensive back Dante Bassanese continues to lead the league in total tackles with 62 and averages 7.8 tackles per game. Owen Watson had 52 total tackles with two sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. Hunter Buckel (47 total tackles) ranks fifth in the league with four sacks, while Josh Cribben (45 total tackles) and Austin Schlicht (38 total tackles) have three sacks, ranking eighth and 10th in the GLIAC, respectively. has been done.
