The University of Southern Indiana Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions will host Health Professions Day for high school juniors and seniors exploring careers in the health care field on Friday, Oct. 25. The day will incorporate hands-on experience in a variety of health professions programs and interactions with USI faculty and current students.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the USI Health Professions Center and will include lunch and an optional campus tour. Representatives from the following programs will lead breakout sessions: Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Food and Nutrition, Health Administration and Health Services, Health Informatics, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assistants, Radiology and Imaging Sciences, and Respiratory Therapy.
“Visiting a college campus gives high school students a first-hand glimpse into the professional world of healthcare professionals,” says Sean Weir, chair of the Occupational Therapist Assistant Program. “The Healthcare Professionals Day is an opportunity for them to explore the various majors at USI, meet future mentors and take their first steps toward making a meaningful impact on the lives of others.”
The event is free but space is limited. Registration is required. Visit USI.edu/hp-day for more information.
