Key Takeaways

Pokemon GO players have suggested adding legendary monsters as rewards for weekly Breakthrough Research. The inclusion of legendary monsters could increase trainer motivation and improve the rotation of five-star raids. Many fans agree with the suggestion, criticizing the current pool of weekly reward monsters.

A Pokemon Go fan suggested improving the weekly breakthrough research by adding legendary monsters as rewards. When it was released in 2016, Pokemon Go became one of the most popular mobile games, allowing players to enjoy catching Pokemon while exploring the real world.

Regular players who complete field research tasks for seven consecutive days are rewarded with Pokémon related to the current season. In Pokémon GO’s current Max Out season, players can encounter Owl, Galarian Silvervine, Galarian Mr. Mime, Excadrill, Jamiroqua, and Scraggy, but one player has an idea to change up the Pokémon on offer to improve the overall gaming experience.

A Reddit user with the username Entire_Pineapple4732 has suggested that Niantic should change the weekly Breakthrough Research rewards to include legendary monsters. In a post on the r/Pokemon GO subreddit, the fan argues that having legendary Pokemon like Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres as weekly rewards would not only motivate trainers to keep up with the research tasks, but would also improve Pokemon GO’s five-star raid rotation by freeing up space in gyms for other legendary Pokemon.

Responses to this post certainly agree with Entire_Pineapple4732’s suggestion, pointing out that the pool of monsters in the weekly breakthrough rewards are usually found throughout the season, citing Pokémon GO’s upcoming Legendary Heroes event as an example. The event runs from September 26 to October 1, and will see Galarian Silvervine, Galarian Mr. Mime, Excadrill, Jamiroqua, and Scraggy appear more frequently in the wild and in raids, with the exception of Owl. The Poodle Pokémon has been a mainstay of the weekly reward pool since December 2022.

Weekly Breakthrough Research rewards aren’t the only area in the game where Niantic has come under fire. Dynamax battles are a recent addition to Pokemon GO, but players are running into issues when trying to battle the giant Pokemon, Beldum. Gamers are reporting a variety of glitches that crash the game, causing them to lose their chance to catch Psychic-type Pokemon and precious MP.

Fans will have to wait and see if Niantic changes the Weekly Breakthrough Reward Pokemon, but there’s still plenty to look forward to in the coming days. With October fast approaching, players can look forward to the Galar Expedition event, which will take place from October 4 to 11 and will see the shiny forms of the Galar bird trio appear in Pokemon GO for the first time.
